Wtf Gamers? An accusation of Assault and Theft from Claptrap Voice Actor
Seems there has been a lot going wrong with the gaming industry lately an the the latest news is quite disturbing. The biggest news that happened this month is the release of gameplay footage of Borderlands 3. It had fans so excited to see the sequel, but there was a slight red flag when the original Claptrap voice actor was not going to be involved. Usually that happens a lot in video games like Peter Dinklage in Destiny 2. However on the recent twitter feed things change in a different light.
Vault of Lies or Loot of Truth?
I will admit I don’t follow much drama, but this caught my interest as it popped up on the feed when Randy Pitchford just sent congratulations only to get a response from a random person.
It is rare to see a creator respond, but apparently it opened up a vault with some interesting loot inside. David Eddings the original voice actor of Claptrap came on twitter to “clear the air” about Mr. Pitchfords claims and he fired back quite strong.
The Ugly Sides of an Industry
David continues on his statement for a while which you can read yourself on his Twitter account by clicking here. Some could speculate that this is just another disgruntled employee trying to bring down someone or a company. My take on the matter is that this is not unheard of and there are many shady dealings within companies. As of late, there have been people standing up against their employers, for example, Riot Games Walkout and the immense firing at Activision.
The problem that we see here is their word against them. We don’t know the full details only have to dig deep into the information and see who else might back the claims up. This thought also comes into mind on separating the art from the artist. Personally once there is concrete evidence of a developer or company doing something wrong or shady, especially to their employees I tend to step away from their content.
It’s horrible seeing a lot of game companies having these issues and how they treat their employees. I am sure things are just beginning and we shall see where it goes from here. – Beast out –
