V Rising Dev Diary Update
We are here because of the curiosity of V Rising being that from the preview. Today the devs have graced us with more details on their upcoming game. Glad they felt it was time to share with the community. They are taking a chance in this new genre for them, but I commend them for their research.
V Rising details:
This is a new take on the survival game genre as V Rising is a Vampire survival game. Expect to roam an open gothic world where you explore, build, craft, and have action-packed combat.
Rise from your coffin as a newly-awakened vampire, stripped from your former powers, fight for survival and strive to dominate the land of the living. Play solo or create a clan with up to three friends as you build your castle, hunt for blood in nearby villages, and wage war against your enemies. The world of V Rising is inhabited by both NPCs and players, offering PvP and PvE challenges. You will need to power up your character by obtaining unholy abilities, crafting armor and weapons. You will also need to strengthen your castle while the threat from other players is rising.
Seems like a creature of the night you will have to fend off against both computer and players. However, I do enjoy a game that gives you the option between PVE and PVP. This is going deep, might have to channel my inner Alucard in order to survive as you will have to fortify your castle and other abilities to handle other players.
How is it different from Battlerite?
The developers have expressed that V Rising is totally different from Battlerite being that it was a straight-up MOBA. Those who are fans of that game will have to prepare for a totally new experience with V Rising. However, they are taking combat notes from Battlerite to give you fast action. Now there are questions on if both Battlerite and V Rising have the same combat.
V Rising and Battlerite’s combat is more like apples and pears. Craft weapons and learn an array of spell kits with unique traits (much like Battlerite Champion abilities). Tailor your playstyle by combining weapons and spell kits to your liking. We’re introducing a weapon switch, similar to the one many players enjoyed in Dead Island Epidemic (for you who can recall that!), plus various items players can use to their advantage. You also want to make sure to drink the right type of blood before heading into battle. Strategy plays a more significant role, as the environment and PvE threats will impact combat. Imagine that you are fighting another player in the forest when, suddenly the sun rises, forcing you to continue your battle in the shadows. The fight is super close as you hit a tree with a well-aimed spell, it falls, and the already hurt opponent is now exposed to the sun. The burning sunlight kills your enemy, and you start looting their body when a hungry grizzly bear enters the frame.
It is interesting as V Rising will have a top-down camera for those that have to play Diablo will feel familiar with this playstyle. There are some modifications now where you can change the camera 360 degrees. In that, you will have more camera freedom while navigating the open world.
How does one feed?
Apparently, you will have your pick of humans to feed off of that will benefit you. Warrior’s blood will improve your physical damage. If you go after Rogues, their blood improves your movement speed and Scholar’s blood improves your magic. Now if you want to improve on your resources go after work’s blood and make sure it is fresh. Blood is needed to survive so get out there and grab your bib, but I am curious on what if I only go after warriors and not worry about magic or much movement. I wonder how strong of a character physically I can be?
Advantages of being Bloodsucker.
Time for your to claim some abandoned property while the market is still good. That is right, during the old days of Vampires there are castles that have been abandoned. It is up to you to reclaim them as your own. This will be your base of operations and with that, you have some crafting to do to make it strong.
Your castle works as your clan base, where you stack your loot, craft items, and keep your army of vampire servants. And yes! You will be able to build your castle piece by piece, putting up walls and doors, constructing workstations, amongst others. Express your vampiric style by personalizing your domain’s appearance with an extensive selection of decorations.
So exciting to be both warrior, survivalist, and interior decorator. What do I mean you may be asking? Well, you are not only armoring your castle and prepping for an attack. You will need to live like a vampire lord but more crafting details will happen at a later date. However, a castle will need some attendees in order to maintain it. How much do you know about ghouls? They are usually servants to vampires and sometimes making new vampire servants aid in your campaign.
Keep in mind to see other warriors as potential servants. Converting human warriors, archers, and mages to grow your darkstalker army is key. This is your way of protection as they are ready to do thy will if need be. There are certain servants that will help in your crafting needs, but keep in mind that each vampire servant needs their own coffin. It would also be cool if you can have werewolf servants for a special elite soldier maybe, but that is just a personal thing for me.
Being a Vampire does have its downsides.
Unless I can be a Vampil or a daywalker, I can only assume that during the day I am vulnerable. It seems the devs have an answer for that too.
Daytime has a significant impact on the gameplay, as exposure to direct sunlight will harm you. Later in the game, you will learn how to craft gear and items(not sunscreen!) to improve your sun resistance. Humans won’t spot you as easily in the dark, which gives you advantages when hunting at night. There will also be particular beasts who only roam the world after dusk and other specific events connected to the night and day cycle.
Building an immunity to the Sun would be ideal in the long run and I am glad they mentioned that you could build the right armor. But again, making a Vampire Hunter D like a vampire could be an option.
Wrap it up!
My bad, it is quite an intriguing game with a lot of details going for it. As stated you will have a run of the world in a King of the Hill style game. There is not much of an end game, but more like learning to be better to survive as long as you can. That is the real challenge especially if you go in dealing with other players in PVP. How they stated that “There can only be on Dracula.” means that you can’t expect cooperative gameplay with buddies. Unless you make a private server to give players a less competitive mode. So, it is up to you to go solo or co-op. This sucks I guess especially if you want to start an alliance with other Vampire lords. However, who knows what might change.
The player count will be estimated to be 50 castles a server which makes me think this will be a large land to grow on. I am happy they have confirmed there will be werewolves in the game, but I do hope for a werewolf expansion so I can be a Lycan lord. However, right now we have to be patient as there is no release date and there is no gameplay as of yet. But this was great information and we can only expect so much more down the line. As always developers please take your time, definitely want a great experience. – Beast Out –
