Ubisoft First Look at Tom Clancy’s XDefiant
Ubisoft showed off a new title today in the genre of an online arena shooter. XDEFIANT is the title where gunplay is the key that will factor your win. That is pretty much a no-duh situation, but not going to knock it at the moment. Let’s get this out the way, yes we were expecting a Splinter Cell announcement. Frankly speaking, we might have to let Sam Fisher retire at this point. Either way, let’s dive into this news.
What is XDefiant?
As stated, it is an FPS Arena shooter. It will offer a 6v6 with a variety of competitive linear and arena-style gameplay. A few modes involved are Domination and Escort and with the claim of no two matches being the same since it will be in the rotation. Honestly, I am not too sure about this, but enjoy the video showcasing the game and some words from the developers.
Anything else to offer?
Well, there are different factions to choose from. You have the Wolves, Outcasts, Cleaners, and Echelon. They will battle across iconic venues, but this is just the beginning which the developers are promising to add more Defiants as the game evolves. Which we will also have access to abilities from the Tom Clancy universe. I can see a Sam Fisher skin in the future.
- Personalized Playstyle: Personalize your Defiant to match your playstyle. Choose your faction, traits, abilities, and ultras. Select from an arsenal of primary and secondary weapons, attachments, and a device to complete your loadout – then tweak it on the fly to adapt to an ever-changing battlefield.
- Competitive Clashes: Tom Clancy’s XDefiant offers a variety of competitive 6v6 arena and linear game modes, such as Domination and Escort. Combine that with a large pool of uniquely designed maps in rotation and no two matches will feel the same.
- Diverse Factions of Defiants: Wolves, Outcasts, Cleaners, and Echelon factions battling across iconic locations is just the starting point. We’ll keep adding to our cast of Defiants as the game evolves, drawing on a range of characters and abilities from the Clancy universe and beyond.
My Personal Take:
Honestly, Ubisoft doesn’t have too many FPS titles under their belt. This would be their third take on the genre from Rainbow Six, HyperScape, and now XDefiant. There is a hope that a Splinter Cell game be it a reboot or a sequel is in the works in the future. It feels almost the same, but sign-ups are live right now to try out XDefiant just have to pick the platform you want to test it on.
Too early to really say how I feel about it until we try it. As of right now stay tuned for an update. – Beast Out –
