Kuma’s Beast Rants: Marvel’s Avengers Needs to go back in the Oven
Long story short, we are 3 months into Marvel’s Avengers, and as we are coming close to the release of a new addon of Kate Bishop. However, the game is still undercooked after a few updates and patches it still not fully functional. When a few things started to have a mishap you start to see the whole picture. Check out my video rant on this subject, because we are going into a new pricing era of video games. I don’t think it is a good idea to work on half-done products.
Anger aside let’s be real:
Marvel’s Avengers can be a great game, but there are few issues that just make it feel lazy and a cash grab. The story has some decent substance, but it falls flat right after that with a multiplayer mechanic just full glitches. Then comes the marketplace of vanities and yes I can’t stress this enough. Full priced games with F2P mechanics are just plain greedy. Most of us paid for the deluxe edition with a broken product. Even with the patches and updates, there are still many issues to contend with. Be it enemies falling through the fall and causing the mission to be impossible to finish. Or better yet characters that we use to get stuck in awkward areas.
The sad part is many gamers are just grinning and bearing with it. They either say, “Eh it happens.” or “You are not forced to pay for them.” It is a horrible thought process because it is a psychological buy-in. Preying off the consumer’s need and yes it is a thing. Some may fight against it, but there are enough out there that shell out the funds for these over expensive vanities. Even the horrible pay to win the system of GTA V Online. However, back to the point at hand. When you have a broken game with greed behind it, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
It’s one of those situations where a company is just plain rude and giving off the impression they just don’t care. So far they keep pushing the new DLC and their marketplace while still delaying the next-gen console upgrade. There was a huge surge of developer commentary and involvement recently but doesn’t help anything. I rather you just take the game back into R&D and fix it. Upgrade the costumes in the main game because recolors of the same skin are just lazy. You want us gamers to support your game, don’t be a d**k about it.
Many developers are doing a good job and considering game prices are going up by 10 dollars. We the consumer expect you to do a good job. We don’t want to have to deal with another Fallout 76 or an Anthem and right now Avengers is falling in that same category. Certain companies get my support with their games like Monster Hunter World: Iceborne by Capcom, Ghost of Tsushima by Sucker Punch Productions, and Marvel’s Spider-man games by Insomniac Games. Yea I know I added a Capcom title, but they do right with Monster Hunter games. In the end, yea I know people want to run a business and this is a way to make more money. But many of us are not dumb, in the long run, this can ruin your can and tarnish your future works. Keep that in mind. – Beast Out –
