Esports Possibly Becoming an Official Part of 2020 Olympics!
What’s up Ladies and Gents! It’s ShadowJin here and today I want to talk about my opinion on something that’s been buzzing around the last week or so. That topic being that Esport could potentially be part of the 2020 Olympic Games! Before I get into that allow me to refresh your minds about Esports. Esports is the gaming competitive scene that has been booming and getting a lot bigger than it’s ever been within these last few years. With that being said there’s a lot of new investors, teams and a bigger audience. Esports mainly featured shooters, MOBA’s and over last 2 years Fighting games. From Counter Strike GO tournaments being televised on TBS to the Mortal Kombat X: Chasing the Cup documentary being on CW, as well as Street Fighter V tournaments being broadcasted on ESPN2. It would seem the only way to go from there is up!
Personally, I think this can be a really great thing! Most people either don’t know about the competitive scene or even know it exists. By literally putting it on the biggest stage of all stages gives it the perfect exposure it needs. I believe it’ll give those casual players who watch and want to compete, a reason to level up and take something they’re passionate about to another level. There’s such an intense thrill when it comes to competing and I feel like the world is missing out on that. When you watch someone go head to head in a video game, the intensity is not only shown on their face or by their reaction but, also in the way they play. Playing mind games are a big part of it and there’s nothing better than watching two very different people with completely different mind sets battle it out to see who will topple who. The other big thing is the amount of money that not only goes into it but, also the payout for these competitions. Some of the biggest payouts are in the millions. When I say millions, yes, I’m talking about millions of dollars for playing games like DotA 2, League of Legends, Counter Strike: GO and Starcraft 2. So, imagine playing some of these games or games like Street Fighter V for one of the most prestigious medals and travel the world doing so. Not a bad, too right?
Now, will everyone accept it being part of the Olympics? Absolutely not and that’s perfectly ok! It’s not for everyone. Just like sports is not for everyone. Whether it’s liked or not, this is a thing and it’s only going to continue growing.
Thanks for checking in and reading this article. I invite you to share your opinions as well on this topic in the comments section if you like.
Once again Ladies and Gents, thanks for tuning in and remember gamers….GAME ON!
