Discord and PlayStation’s new Partnership
So, interesting turn of events in gaming news today. The funny part about Discord having an alliance with PlayStation is kind of odd to me. I mean the PlayStation online chat service is not that bad especially when you make a party with your friends. With that being said, what improvements or gain can PlayStation and Discord have by doing such a partnership?
PlayStation Discord Alliance:
Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment wrote in a blog about this partnership.
At PlayStation, we’re constantly looking for new ways to enable players around the world to connect with one another, form new friendships and communities, and share fun experiences and lasting memories. It’s in this spirit that we’re excited to announce a new partnership with Discord, the communication service popularized by gamers and used by more than 140 million people every month around the world.
My initial take from the blog which is this. Being that discord gives gamers an oppoturnity not to only cimmunicate with one another in voice chat. There is also a way to use video caht with multiple users, even share your screen. Now on the PlayStation 5 you can can have a chat party with a good group of people and even share your screen and game with others.
I believe a better feature for PlayStation players is you can have a forum area for the group you play with. Set up events and just have your all around community with different categories that discord already offers.
To bring these experiences to life for our players, Sony Interactive Entertainment has made a minority investment as part of Discord’s Series H round. From our very first conversation with co-founders Jason Citron and Stan Vishnevskiy, I was inspired by their lifelong love for gaming and our teams’ shared passion to help bring friends and communities together in new ways. Empowering players to create communities and enjoy shared gaming experiences is at the heart of what we do, so we are beyond excited to start this journey with one of the world’s most popular communication services.
We just have to wait to see what happens next year and how this will make the community better. If you noticed already on discord playing on PC, gamers can see what you are playing when you fire up any game launcher. This was also experimented with for PlayStation as well. Anything that can better bring gamers together I am all for it. However, what say you? How do you feel about this partnership? Share your thoughts below and let’s discuss. – Beast Out –
