Death Stranding Full Reveal
Hideo Kojima has always been a favorite developer of mine with his Metal Gear series and once he went on his own. I knew once he had no one to fully answer too he was going to create some trippy titles. Death Stranding is his first game developed for his own company and we were all excited before seeing any real game footage, but now we have an over 8 minute video giving us what we wanted.
What do we know of Death Stranding?
After looking at the video I am still a bit lost on what is really going on, but this is not a bad thing. This is a good line of intrigue that fuels one to play a game. We now know that this is the United States just broken and you are some Agent having to fix an issue. But once again we are at a crossroads to figure out who is the real villain of the story and what is going on with these Bridge Babies that seem to make you time jump.
In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the globe, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With otherworldly creatures plaguing the landscape, and mass extinction imminent, it’s up to Sam Porter Bridges to travel across the ravaged wasteland and save humanity from impending annihilation.
This is an interesting concept when it comes to games moving away from the classic “Game Over” screen. Instead from what I dug up, “you’ll find yourself in an upside-down realm, searching for a way back to the living.” I always liked that concept where you have to fight your way back instead of just hitting the continue and each time you fail it gets harder to come back. Fighting for your will to survive is always a great motivator.
Speaking of fighting, what is a Kojima game without showing off something exciting. There is always a dash of action to be had and Death Stranding gives us a bit of hand to hand combat and of course gunplay. There is also the sneaky tactics that you will have to master in using stealth and diversion skills.
Then you have a multiplayer feature, but before you jump for joy it will resemble more like what Dark Souls had. Death Stranding will have asynchronous multiplayer, which in short will have players send supplies or leaving messages for safe houses. It is pretty intuitive.
Death Stranding will be released on November 8th, 2019 which some are shocked not being released for the PS5. I say bring it on and let us have at it which digital pre-orders are happening now, but if you want a physical copy please click here. There will be a collector’s edition that features a huge haul for $199.
