Beastly News: PlayStation 5 Finally a Price
So the PlayStation 5 Event today gave us a lot more information for people to sink their teeth into. This was the huge anticipation for many gamers especially those wanting to know the final price for both digital and physical systems. So, what does this beast think of this showcase? Keep reading to find out!
First the PlayStation 5 Games:
The showcase was deep giving us some games that we have not seen and those that we have. What caught my eye was Final Fantasy XVI which was a world premiere for many of us. Ever since the Final Fantasy 7 Remake dropped, it seems Square Enix got the right idea with the combat. It is fluid and fun and I want to know more about this new storyline, especially the summons that will be involved.
Oddworld Soul Storm showcase was nice to get a deeper dive into that story. Oddworld surprised me and some others as we are shocked this is still ongoing. It has a strong following and I do want to see what leads our hero to finally cut the binds to his mouth.
Demon Souls is just straight-up beautiful and being that Japan Studio’s worked on this remake has me geared up to play again. Things went a different route when the Dark Souls series was done by Bandai Namco. Personally I feel there was a watered-down feeling in the other series which makes Demon Souls its own game. Yes, going in this world the shadow work and the ray-tracing looks amazing. Great job.
Spider-man Miles Morales….Freaking Awesome enough said! We got to see more of the combat and what Miles can do. He is a different kind of Spider-man being that he has Venom Strike which is electrical powers. This Spider-man has a stealth feature that comes in handy and I want to know what the cooldown will be for these abilities.
I did a previous post talking about Resident Evil Village as I played last year thanks to a PR firm. But yea this game is going to be scary, fun, and has a deep story for you to dive into. Again, I know many fans are pissed that Chris Redfield might be a villain this time around, but you don’t know. Also, if he were a villain I welcome the new twist to the story. Chris has been through a lot and we have no idea what has been going on to make him change.
The Deathloop got talked about again and another interesting concept on time loop in a game. You die and you just get better each time. An assassin version of Groundhogs Day if you will. I am with it, but we have to wait till 2021 which is fine since delays just mean they need to fix some things.
I am not going to lie not every game got my interest. The new Hogwarts game seems like an MMO, not interested. The Special Edition of Devil May Cry 5 changed the song which is a plus, but now Virgil seems to be the front runner this time, but a nope for me. Five Nights at Freddy’s game announced and something with Fortnite.
Accessories to Expect:
There were things not shown during the event that I wanted to check out and that is the accessories.
- DualSense™ Wireless Controller (standalone) – US$69.99/¥6,980/€69.99 (RRP)
- PULSE 3D™ wireless headset – with 3D audio support and dual noise-cancelling microphones US$99.99/¥9,980/€99.99 (RRP)
- HD Camera – with dual 1080p lenses for gamers to broadcast themselves along with their epic gameplay moments US$59.99/¥5,980/€59.99 (RRP)
- Media Remote – to navigate movies and streaming services with ease US$29.99/¥2,980/€29.99 (RRP)
- DualSense™ Charging Station – to conveniently charge two DualSense Wireless Controllers US$29.99/¥2,980/€29.99 (RRP)
As expected the controllers are going up by ten dollars and I hope it lives up to the price. The new Dual Sense is offering a whole new experience to an HD controller where you can feel sand and other touch senses. I am happy that the new HD camera is staying the same though not to bad.
What Bothers the Beast a Bit?
“For PlayStation Plus members, we’ll have a special new offering on PS5 – the PlayStation Plus Collection**. PS5 owners with PS Plus will be able to download and play a curated library of PS4 games that defined the generation, like Batman Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 5, and many more. The PS Plus Collection will be an added benefit to the existing PS4 benefits that PS Plus members receive for a single subscription price.”
The other side of the coin that has been complaining about for years with the PlayStation. We are going into a new generation of console and with the announcement of PlayStation Plus they are showcasing a lot of games already owned or older titles that were given away for free already. As my buddy Dre said this practice is bad form and I agree I do not like it. PlayStation Plus has not been good to me since PS3 where they gave out better titles an at a grander scale.
At least with Xbox Game Pass, you get what you paid for with not just backward compatible games and 4 free titles each month. But you also get new titles available to you one the day they launch for free. That way if you do like the game you can download it for a cheaper price. Also, a lot of great sales on games daily and perks to use on games that you own.
There was hope that PlayStation Plus and the Now service would be improved for the next-gen console, but it seems to be just the same. Such a shame.
These will be the titles available at launch so keep an eye out on that.

Not bad, the digital system is going for a hundred dollars more than the Xbox Series X but I am cool with that. What say you though? How are you feeling about the PlayStation 5 details?
